No experience yet, but I'm heading out with them in a few weeks!  Very excited.  I've only heard good things.

Great trip.  It ended up being a LONG day for me...drove 2 hours there, 1.5 hour boat ride, an hour on the island (about 40 minutes in the blinds), then 1.5 hours back and 2 hours driving home.  Whew!

So many great puffin photos, though!  I'll have them uploaded in the coming days.

Norton of Jonesport is the way to go.  They're done for the summer but check them out next year if you can.  A little pricey but you will not get better looks at puffins anywhere else.  They're one of (I believe) three boats left with landing permits for the island (one of which is Canada-based).  The number of puffins is astounding, and I went when some had already left!

Ha ha! That's not a long day! I flew from Melbourne (Australia not Florida), to LA, then to Boston, then drove to Brownfield, then drove to Cutler, then took the boat out to Machias. That's what you call a long day ;-) Lucky I didn't have to get back the same day....

I've been to many countries many times to look at birds but this was one of the best single day trips ever in book.
