Jeff Mollenhauer, director of bird conservation for Audubon South Carolina, has written "Birding in South Carolina: A Guide to 40 Premier Birding Sites," which is available at various outlets including Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Birding-South-Carolina-Premier-Falcon/dp/0762745797

One of the sites listed (and I'm biased) is my job site at Audubon's Francis Beidler Forest.  Especially in the spring, the old-growth, cypress-tupelo swamp is a must-see site in SC.

Our blog at http://beidlerforest.blogspot.com/ and our webpage at http://sc.audubon.org/Centers_FBF.html provide examples of what can be seen easily from the boardwalk during various times of the year.
